Stay on track with TAKHZYRO

Tips for staying on top of your treatment

No matter where you are in your hereditary angioedema (HAE) and TAKHZYRO journey, it's important to make sure to take TAKHZYRO exactly as prescribed. We have the info, tools, and inspiration to help.

Track your progress with TAKHZYRO

It's important to track your progress. Take some time to reflect on your goals. You might even want to write them down (you can use the Journey Journal that came in your Welcome Kit).

If you’re just starting TAKHZYRO, start by thinking about your experience with HAE today. This will give you a snapshot of your time "before TAKHZYRO" so you and your doctor can evaluate results. Some questions that may be worth noting:

  • How often are my attacks now?
  • How severe are they?
  • How often do I use my on-demand medication?

Get ready for your next doctor check-in

Checking on your progress is key to success‍—‌you've been tracking those goals so you and your doctor can see just how far you've come.

Here are some discussion points for your next doctor appointment:

Make a commitment to yourself and to TAKHZYRO

Take each dose as prescribed

TAKHZYRO continues to work as you take it, so it is important to take each dose as prescribed by your doctor. Remember also to avoid missing or skipping doses.

Breakthrough attacks

It's possible to experience breakthrough attacks while taking TAKHZYRO. Some people may experience them more frequently in the first few months of treatment.

Always keep your on-demand treatment nearby in case you have a breakthrough attack.

If you do experience a breakthrough attack, don't get discouraged. Let your doctor know and continue to take TAKHZYRO as prescribed.

Stay the course

Give TAKHZYRO 2.5 months to reach steady state. Over time, you may notice your attacks are less severe or that you’re using your on-demand treatment less. These are signs that TAKHZYRO is working.

I stay on treatment because I remember what my HAE was like before preventive treatment. I do not want to go back there.”

  • The HAE attacks you have are less severe
  • You use your on-demand treatment less often

Check out the safety results from the 6.5-month and 2.5-year clinical studies.

Should I keep taking TAKHZYRO if I haven’t had an HAE attack in a while?
Yes, you should keep taking TAKHZYRO as prescribed. Over time, you may notice a decrease in the severity of your HAE attacks. You might even find that your HAE attacks happen less often or you are using your on-demand treatment less. These are signs that TAKHZYRO is working. But at any time, HAE attacks could start to happen more regularly, and in places that are more life-threatening (like the mouth and throat). That’s why it’s so important to keep taking TAKHZYRO as prescribed to help prevent attacks. You should keep on-demand treatment on hand (and periodically check to make sure it hasn't expired) so you're prepared to treat if an attack occurs. TAKHZYRO is not an on-demand treatment.
